This week I experienced something I've never experienced before. Four days in a row off of school due to weather. We had Monday off due to snow although it was only six inches and I don't think they really needed to call it off but I'm just not gonna complain. Tuesday thru today was due to cold and that was justified because it was really COLD AS HELL FROZEN OVER. Above shows the temperature yesterday morning. 

Anyway I've tried to go from this (see above). 

To this (see above). With the help of mixing some Hula Hula Cocktails. 

The above version is a rum Hula Hula with one part rum (El Dorado) one part orange curacao (dry curacao by Pierre Ferrand) and one part orange juice. 

I'm trying to develop a signature version of this cocktail and I've gone with lots of different variations. Pictured above is one part orange curacao (dry curacao by Pierre Ferrand), one part orange juice, and one part vodka (Three Olives).

Here's a Hula Hula with all the original ingredients of the recipe. One part OJ, one part gin (I used Beefeater), and one part orange curacao (dry curacao by Pierre Ferrand). Note the fish tiki mug which I purchased at my last visit to Psycho Suzi's. 

Finally, I think what's pictured above could be a different signature cocktail. It's got OJ, orange curacao, Cointreau, and brandy. It's probably more a variation on a Sidecar. I'll keep on working on it and maybe call it a Joey's Surfin' Sidecar. [Please note: the above cocktails were not consumed on the same day. I'm not that bad.]

Oh, and I added another song to my Psycho Suzi Playlist Volume 1. I like to Shazam songs I hear there and add them to my tiki, surf, or Suzi playlists. The music was rather soft in the bar so Shazam wasn't cooperating but this one is one I already knew.

Another union meeting tonight so I went over a little early so as to stop by Suzi's. Of course I started off with the Psychotic Suzi, which is, along with the Crummy Scoundrel, tied as my favorite drink there. As you can see in the above picture Suzi was a little leaky today.

The drink came with a paddle swizzle stick which I've never seen before. Hard to see in the photo but it is personalized for Suzi's. 

The service was friendly as always. My bartender and her helper provided excellent service. I ordered a pizza for dinner and when it didn't come out in a timely fashion she made sure I got a free tiki drink. I'm not sure what the name of the one in the fish mug is but it's only available during happy hour and I quite liked it.

Cold, cloudy, but it's always sunny inside Psycho Suzi's. Per usual, I had some time before a union meeting so I headed to the local tiki bar. Also, per usual, I had the Hawaiian pizza and a couple of Psychotic Suzi's. 

Sun came out and as it was setting it cast a lovely golden light over the bar. 

Shazamed a bunch of songs while at Suzi's and put them onto a playlist on iTunes. Will add to it next time I go. 

As this is my first post of 2019 I'll state that one of my new year's resolutions is to get to Lucky Cricket this year. 

Also, was in Phoenix recently with Dale helping his folks move. It was a busy trip and unfortunately we didn't make it to UnderTow. We're hoping to get back sometime in February or March and will make it a point to stop there.
