When in Phoenix we try to always make a stop at the Bikini Lounge.

I asked the bartender which cocktails were a bit less sweet than the others. She recommended the Scorpion and the Dark and Stormy. I started with the Scorpion which is pictured above. Dale got a beer.

My second drink was the Dark and Stormy. Very gingery and a little chocolaty. Very good. The ginger gave it a lot of kick.

The joint was jumpin' considering it was before 5 p.m. on a Friday. 

Told the bartender about a previous bartender who told me the footrest at the bar had actually been a communal urinal back in the day so that guys could just sit and pee and that it got covered up so it could be used as a foot rest. Current bartender thought she knew who the previous bartender was and that she had been pulling my leg. Okay, fine but the communal urinal makes for a much better story. Just sayin. Current bartender told me that the bar's old elbow rest was made of pleather, naugahyde, or some such material but that it eventually started to crack and break up and that it was replaced by a communion rail from a church (see above). Truth be told it really did cradle the elbows well. Probably a more plausible story. Dale noted that in a church or a bar alcohol would have passed over it.
