Lovely weather yesterday which made it wonderful to sit out in the yard. Listened to Ultra Lounge Vol. 1: Mondo Exotica. Drank a couple  hula hula cocktails and caught up on some tiki reading too.

After cocktail Dale and I ordered Chinese for dinner. It was delicious. I had wonton soup and Dale and I both had chicken with cashews, steamed broccoli, egg rolls, and steamed wontons.

I was going for an old time tiki restaurant feel with the exotica music, tiki drinks, and Chinese food.

I had a lovely and relaxing evening with Dale tonight. Work was, as always, exhausting but particularly so today. We had stuff that needed to get done but we ending up socializing on the couch. I made my newly favorite Hula Hula cocktail and we listened to newly downloaded Duke Kamoku and His Islanders album.

During dinner we watched some episodes of the most recent season of Grace and Frankie starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

As if getting my Shag tiki pendant yesterday weren't enough, today Sippin' Safari by Jeff "Beachbum" Berry was delivered. Yay! 

I globbed on to one recipe pretty quickly while previewing the book because it looked so easy even I could do it. The Hula Hula Cocktail is one part gin, one part orange curacoa, and one part orange juice shaken on ice and strained. No 1/4 ounces of 4 different kinds of freshly squeezed fruit juices. No three different kinds of rum. No drink mixers with shaved ice and agitator cubes. I'm too impatient for all of that. I mean I love a well made craft tiki cocktail it's just that I'd rather have someone else make the hardcore stuff for me. 

Music tonight included a couple of mixes I downloaded from iTunes (see above and below).

I recently ordered a Shag tiki pendant and it came in the mail today. I couldn't be more pleased. It looked good with the martini I made tonight. Brad and Josh were intrigued. 

Dale and I ate blue corn chips and greasy pizza tonight while we watched Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee and Grace and Frankie.

Rum and Pinneapple

Pineapple juice with rum was the drink of the day in the Mermaid Lounge this evening. I wanted an easy tiki drink so I googled rum and pineapple juice. I found one recipe that suggested adding grated nutmeg to the mix which I did. It worked well although for the second cocktail of the night I didn't add quite as much. I also topped the drink off with club soda. Good enough to make again although I think next week I'll add some dark rum to the light rum and maybe add a little lime juice.

Recently during one of my google searches for "tiki" I came across this most awesome tiki pendant being sold by the online Shag store.

I simply had to have it so an order was placed. Not too long after I received a package in the mail with this sticker affixed to it.

It now appears quite frequently on my person.
