Quarantiki - Psycho Suzi's

Thursday, July 16, 2020

Yummy but salty appetizers. We ordered a Hawaiian and a pepperoni pizza - also yummy. I went with tropical cocktails but Dale and Mom stuck with beer. The Mississippi looked beautiful from the patio. Mom really appreciated that.

As on our last visit my first drink was the Psychotic Suzi.

As like our last visit my second tiki drink was the Native's Curse.

Unlike our last visit my third and final drink was the Fu Manchu. I couldn't decide between that one and the Beachcomber so I asked the bartender to pick for me. She told me that I for sure wanted the Fu Manchu. I thanked her for doing my thinking for me. In its description the menu says, "Only one foo will do, in this not so foo-foo fighting beverage. Special Kung Fu blend of Jamaican rums, coconut, and Hawaiian island flavor." The coconut really spoke to me. It was delicious.

My chauffeur takes me to all the best places.

Hot but not oppressively so. Beautiful evening none-the-less.

Quarantiki - Psycho Suzi's Waterfront Lounge Part 1

Friday, June 19, 2020

Dale and I made reservations for an event at Psycho Suzi’s which, as you can see on the above sign, they’re billing as an “All-Inclusive Tropical Vacation Starting at $29.” This is the first time since shortly before March 16 we’ve been out to eat at a restaurant. We’ve been very excited not only to eat out but to eat out on Suzi’s huge expansive patio overlooking the Mississippi River.

They had the logistics for the event well planned out. Once you were let in for your 1.5 hour time slot (we started at 5:30) you were to do things in the following order:

1. Order Your First Beverage a) Order at the bar b) Make wristband always visible c) Have ID ready for alcohol

2.Choose the Right Table a) Match the table number color card to the color of your wristband b) Choose a table appropriate to the size of your party

3. Order a) Food and additional drinks ordered at the bar b) Check brochure for menu options c) remember table number for ordering d) Food delivered to your table

There were 4 different colored table number cards. At any given time each the tables that matched a given color were being cleared and sanitized for the next shift.

All you can drink and eat!

Lunch with Dale at Psycho Suzi's Part 3

Friday, October 19, 2018

Psycho Suzi's overlooks the Mississippi River and has a "dock" behind it although there is no actual structure that extends into the water for boats to pull up to. However, I have seen people pull up in kayaks and beach them there. The water is pretty high right now compared to when Dale and I were there this past August.

Birthday Week - Exotik-A-GoGo

Friday, August 17, 2018

Can't believe I started my birthday week celebration a week ago. When Dale got home from work today I asked him if he was interested in going to Psycho Suzi's to hear Exotik-A-GoGo play. He was into it! So, after getting Athena fed and walked we headed Nordeast and got a table with a window onto the patio. Our server told us the band would be playing on the patio rather than upstairs. Shortly thereafter I  saw the band setting up outside. The began playing promptly at 6:30 and you could hear the music inside as the doors were open to the outdoor area. They played most of the songs from their new album Vibralicous!

I drank Crummy Scoundrels and Dale had beer.

We shared the poutine tots to start and then we each had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. All quite delicious.

After dinner we headed out to the patio and sat down to listen to the band for awhile. They were great.

After a bit, the band went on break so Dale and I headed down to the Psycho Suzi's dock. You wouldn't know it from the pictures below but the skies are actually cloud-free. The whiteness is the haze of the wildfires out in California. They are particularly bad this year.

We headed back to the restaurant to check out the gift shop. I wasn't planning on it but I ended up going home with one big ol' tiki mug. The fellow in the gift shop pointed out that the one I got was one made especially for Psycho Suzi's. I photographed it upon our arrival back home.

As we headed back to the car I noticed someone had set up a little tiki house on one of the retainers for the gardens in the parking lot. Cute.

Awesome evening, Dale. Thanks for indulging me!

Psycho Suzi's - July 17 Part 3: Psycho Suzi's Dock

Tuesday, July 17, 2018
The next stop was the dock. It reminded me of when Dale and I were here for my birthday last year. I can't wait until he's home from up north.

Have I mentioned what an absolutely gorgeous day it was today?

Recent Birthday at Psycho Suzi's

So glad to celebrate my recent birthday at Psycho Suzi's Motor Lounge with Dale. We got there shortly before 5 and were able to score a table on their most awesome patio deck which overlooks the Mississippi River. Before 5 p.m. it's seat yourself on the patio however after this time you need to see the hostess.

We settled in and ordered drinks. Dale got a Pabst Blue Ribbon and I went with one of my favorites, the Psychotic Suzi. I tried getting a selfie of myself with my cocktail but Dale kept messing with me.

For an appetizer we ordered the poutine tots which the menu describes as "house sausage gravy served over tater tots with Nordeast Minneapolis made cheese." So satisfying.

For dinner we got the Hawaiian Surf pizza. For dessert Dale  ordered coffee but I went ahead and got the Fu Manchu which has a little coffee in it.

Now, on my last visit to Suzi's I discovered that they have a dock. You follow a little path out behind the restaurant down to the river bank. It's really more of just a landing as there is no actually dock in sight. There were a couple of kayaks beached on the shore. I saw the people in them paddle up just before we left our table.

This was a wonderfully enjoyable, laid back birthday with just Dale and myself. Equally as fun but quite a contrast to my birthday last year which involved a few more people.
