9th Psycho Suzi's Visit for 2019

Thursday, August 15, 2019

Union meeting today so I stopped by Psycho Suzi's before hand.

Of course I started out with the Psychotic Suzi.

And had the Hawaiian Surf pizza for sustenance.

My second round was a Crummy Scoundrel but I thought it tasted a little over-sweet this time.

As I didn't get there until around three o'clock it was a bit on the quiet side.  The manager on duty came over and struck up a conversation with me which was very sweet. After I asked her about business lately she replied that it's been rather slow. I mentioned I had been in for lunch a couple weeks ago with Mom and that the patio was packed. She said it really goes in waves and that the last week has been more quiet than usual. We also had a nice talk about our dogs.

By the time I left I felt quite prepared for my union meeting.

Third Psycho Suzi's Visit for 2019

Friday, February 15, 2019

Day off today and a cold yet gorgeously sunny one at that. After heading to the gym, the chiropractor, and the glasses shop to pick up my contacts, I headed to Suzi's for lunch. My favorite bartender was there and she was training someone in. I ordered a Psychotic Suzi and she talked the new gal through the making of it. It turned out to be fantastic and I told her so. She seemed tickled to hear it.

Decided to try a pizza I hadn't had before and went with the sausage and mushroom. It was delicious.

Bartender asked what my favorite Suzi's cocktails are. I told her that number one is the Psychotic Suzi, number two is the Crummy Scoundrel, and number three is the Coconaught. She told me her's is the Crummy Scoundrel so I went with that for my second one. When asked why I like it I told her because it has some carbonation in it and that it's like a punch. She said that's a good way to describe it.

I also Shazamed a  song and then added it to my Psycho Suzi's Mix Vol. 1 playlist.

Pre Union Meeting Visit to Suzi's

Thursday, November 8, 2018

Stopped by Suzi's prior to an afternoon union meeting. Started with the Psychotic Suzi. My bartender did a particularly good job of making this one. Sometimes the drink ends up a little on the sweet side.

Next, a Crummy Scoundrel. Again, expertly made. Not too sweet.

My bartender was top notch. She was very personable and she gave me a sample of a coconut porter from Maui Brewing Company.

It was quite substantial. I really liked it and that's saying something cuz I'm not a huge beer fan.

Lunch with Dale at Psycho Suzi's Part 2

Friday, October 19, 2018

For our second round Dale had another beer and I had a Crummy Scoundrel. Here we find Dale trying to cope with his alien had syndrome.

Psycho Suzi's

Thursday, September 13, 2018

I ordered the Hawaiian Surf pizza for dinner. My first tiki cocktail was  The Crummy Scoundrel. It's one of my favorites.

My second cocktail was the Paralyzed Polynesian. Haven't had it for a while. I love the hints of hibiscus.

Birthday Week - Exotik-A-GoGo

Friday, August 17, 2018

Can't believe I started my birthday week celebration a week ago. When Dale got home from work today I asked him if he was interested in going to Psycho Suzi's to hear Exotik-A-GoGo play. He was into it! So, after getting Athena fed and walked we headed Nordeast and got a table with a window onto the patio. Our server told us the band would be playing on the patio rather than upstairs. Shortly thereafter I  saw the band setting up outside. The began playing promptly at 6:30 and you could hear the music inside as the doors were open to the outdoor area. They played most of the songs from their new album Vibralicous!

I drank Crummy Scoundrels and Dale had beer.

We shared the poutine tots to start and then we each had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. All quite delicious.

After dinner we headed out to the patio and sat down to listen to the band for awhile. They were great.

After a bit, the band went on break so Dale and I headed down to the Psycho Suzi's dock. You wouldn't know it from the pictures below but the skies are actually cloud-free. The whiteness is the haze of the wildfires out in California. They are particularly bad this year.

We headed back to the restaurant to check out the gift shop. I wasn't planning on it but I ended up going home with one big ol' tiki mug. The fellow in the gift shop pointed out that the one I got was one made especially for Psycho Suzi's. I photographed it upon our arrival back home.

As we headed back to the car I noticed someone had set up a little tiki house on one of the retainers for the gardens in the parking lot. Cute.

Awesome evening, Dale. Thanks for indulging me!

Birthday Weekend - Psycho Suzi's Motor Lounge Part 5

Monday, August 13, 2018

So, the birthday weekend continues. I had a union meeting today and stopped my Psycho Suzi's afterward for lunch. While walking by the union hall I noticed this ship in the back of the building next door. I think it would be a great addition to anyone's back yard tiki bar!

When I got to Suzi's I immediately ordered a Crummy Scoundrel (one of my favorites). Like I've mentioned before there's something carbonated in it and I think it might be ginger ale.

To eat I ordered the mac and cheese bake with added bacon. Always delicious.

Birthday Weekend - Psycho Suzi's Motor Lounge Part 1

Friday, August 10, 2018

As part of my birthday weekend I took myself to lunch at Psycho Suzi's. I started out with one of my favorite drinks there, the Crummy Scoundrel. The drink menu describes it as follows, "An absurd blend of amusing flavors and pirate-like fun... but with no pirates. Blackberry, hibiscus, banana, fresh lime. Circa 1972." The drink also has something carbonated in it which makes it especially refreshing.

I heard some cool surf music playing and when I Shazamed it it turned out to be an awesome surf medley titled, what else, Surf Medley by Junior Brown. Of course I downloaded it and added it to my surf playlist on iTunes.

Psycho Suzi's - July 17 Part 1: Lunch and Drinks

Tuesday, July 17, 2018
Drove up to Nordeast for a late lunch at Psycho Suzi's.

I parked myself at my favorite spot at the end of the bar and started with a Crummy Scoundrel which is one of my favorites - very refreshing.

For lunch I ordered the mac and cheese and added bacon. I ordered this last time we were here and it's become my favorite thing since they took the vodka sauce spaghetti off the menu.

For round two I ordered a Mai Tai. I don't think I've ever had the Psycho Suzi's version. Not bad.

The garage doors that open out to the patio/deck were up. The weather was perfect and there was gorgeous sunshine and a soft breeze.

Dale's Take On Psycho Brunch

The Crummy Scoundrel. The tiki drink, not me.
On Sunday Dale posted the above two photos on his blog with the text, "Doing a little day drinking with Joe at Psycho Suzi's. Well, he's day drinking. I'm sticking to the calorie free Cinnamon Chenille." I responded by saying, "Day drinking? It's called brunch!"

Psycho Brunch

Sunday, March 11, 2018
Dale and I had planned on visiting Psycho Suzi's last night with Maggie and Cindi but some unforseen circumstances got in the way.
Dale felt bad about it since he knew I'd been looking forward to it all week so he took me there for brunch today.
I was up for trying a tiki drink I've never had before so I went with the Crummy Scoundrel. The drink menu describes it as "An absurd blend of amusing flavors and pirate-like fun...but with no pirates. Blackberry, hibiscus, banana, fresh lime. Circa 1972."
It was awesome and I loved it. It even had a little fizz to it.  Dale's having a dry March and so didn't order anything to drink beside coffee.

For brunch I ordered The Samoan which the menu described as "Seasoned roasted pork, jalapeƱos & cheddar, topped with two fried eggs, and Cholula sour cream on a bed of Suzi's breakfast potatoes." Also awesome.
I managed to get a bathroom selfie and...

...stopped by the gift shop afterward for some tiki shot glasses.
Pretty awesome visit. Just what I need to alleviate the mood brought on by a very gloomy Minneapolis March day.
