Mom asked if I could help her get a couple of chairs up to a refinishing place in Nordeast Mpls. not too far from Psycho Suzi's. Suzi's was right on the way but even though our destination was not too far off we had a heckuva time finding it. Anyway, find it we did and we stopped by Suzi's for a nice lunch of pizza, which Mom adores, but also some fried wontons, which Mom also adores. I had my standard Psychotic Suzi cocktail and Mom had a beer. We sat out on the patio overlooking the river. It was a gorgeous Minneapolis summer day.

Third Psycho Suzi's Visit for 2019
Friday, February 15, 2019
Day off today and a cold yet gorgeously sunny one at that. After heading to the gym, the chiropractor, and the glasses shop to pick up my contacts, I headed to Suzi's for lunch. My favorite bartender was there and she was training someone in. I ordered a Psychotic Suzi and she talked the new gal through the making of it. It turned out to be fantastic and I told her so. She seemed tickled to hear it.
Decided to try a pizza I hadn't had before and went with the sausage and mushroom. It was delicious.
Bartender asked what my favorite Suzi's cocktails are. I told her that number one is the Psychotic Suzi, number two is the Crummy Scoundrel, and number three is the Coconaught. She told me her's is the Crummy Scoundrel so I went with that for my second one. When asked why I like it I told her because it has some carbonation in it and that it's like a punch. She said that's a good way to describe it.
I also Shazamed a song and then added it to my Psycho Suzi's Mix Vol. 1 playlist.

Psycho Suzi's
Thursday, September 13, 2018
I ordered the Hawaiian Surf pizza for dinner. My first tiki cocktail was The Crummy Scoundrel. It's one of my favorites.
My second cocktail was the Paralyzed Polynesian. Haven't had it for a while. I love the hints of hibiscus.

Birthday Week Tiki Tuesday - Joe's Signature Tiki Cocktail
Tuesday, August 14, 2018
Yes, I realize I'm really dragging this birthday thing out by making my birthday weekend into a birthday week but I'm having a lot of fun with it. I'm trying to create my own signature tiki cocktail and here is one attempt. It's a version of the hula hula cocktail from Jeff "Beachbum" Berry. In my version I use the the same ingredients as the hula hula cocktail but instead of shaking on ice and straining, I mix the three ingredients in a glass (in this case one of my favorite tiki mugs, see above), add ice and top with tonic water. It's really not bad - very refreshing. As I continue to experiment I think I may try ginger ale next time.
Also, Julie and Regina took Dale and me to see The Meg on Sunday afternoon. It was a lot of fun. Afterward we went to Parkway Pizza and I had a Hawaiian pizza. Today I ate the leftovers. Parkway has amazing pizza.

Psycho Suzi's - September 16, 2017
This past Saturday I had a union meeting which started at 9 a.m. and was to go until 4. However, we finished our work by 11:45 and since my favorite tiki bar, Psycho Suzi's, is so close I decided to grab a little lunch there.
I sat at the bar and ordered a Paralyzed Polynesian. The blurb for the drink which appears on the drink menu is as follows:
"New Polynesian Paralysis: 'A screaming desire not to work, nor do anything that requires any substantial effort either physical or mental.' That's the right attitude. Made with 4 different rums, hibiscus, and citrus. Circa 1966."
Sounded just right for where I was at the moment.
For lunch I ordered the Hawaiian Surf pizza which is topped by Canadian bacon and pineapple.
When I'm there alone I love sitting next to the drink station at the bar where the servers pick up tiki cocktails (and other drinks) to deliver to customers. After my pizza arrived my bartender asked how everything was. I told him it was great. One of the chatty waitresses who was waiting for an order right next to me and flirting with the bartender said, "although I bet he wishes we would just shut up. I turned to her and said that I actually love to sit in the very spot I was in to hear the banter between the servers and the bar staff. She said, "Yeah, I call all this Psycho Suzi TV."
Moments later a woman walked by holding what looked to be a two year old who was screaming bloody murder. Every time I hear a kid screaming like this I wanna tell him it all just gets harder the older one gets so he may as well not sweat the small stuff. My bartender pulled a cord to blow a really loud boat horn to startle the kid out of his misery. I don't know if it worked. The woman holding the kid was walking pretty fast. Now, this horn was really loud and I had no idea Suzi's had one. When I asked the bartenders what it was for they told me it was actually to blow for boats passing by the restaurant which is located on the Mississippi River. They said the port authority recently closed the lock and dam just past the restaurant so big boats don't go by anymore and now they just pull it to amuse themselves. The effects of my Paralyzed Polynesian had started to kick in and I cam really close to asking if I could pull it but I chickened out.
For dessert I ordered the Fu Manchu. I think it works as a dessert drink due to the fact that one of its ingredients is coffee. It's also got some kind of sweet syrup in it so it reminds me a little bit of Bailey's.
