Lucky Cricket 3 for 2019

Sunday, May 5, 2019

After church today Dale and I decided to pick up some brunch but we weren't too excited about our usual options. I suggested Lucky Cricket and Dale pounced on the idea.

I started out with the Tiki Reviver for my first cocktail. The menu describes it thusly: "Rich and mystifying. Rums, coconut, pineapple, lime and spiked with coffee liqueur." It's my new favorite.

Of course I purchased the mug. The website describes as such: "The 'Cannibal King' mug designed by Ken Ruzic. With a headdress of skulls and a hungry scowl, the king of the cannibals will add the perfect atmosphere of dark royalty to any tropical shindig. This mug stands at a commanding 8" in height and has a capacity for 19 oz. of your favorite libation."

We ordered delicious things from the menu to share and we finished with some soft serve swirl.

Lucky Cricket has quite a puffer fish collection.

Interesting tikis...

Cigar & Tiki Cocktail Time

Saturday, May 4, 2019

The weather's been cruddy lately but I got another beautiful Saturday that's helping to keep hope alive. Hula Hula Cocktail with Myer's rum.

Cigar time.

Punch cigar.

Looked some more through the book from Frankie's Tiki Room. In search of recipes that are manageable and not too fussy to make. Quest was successful as I found quite a few.

Brad seemed to have a great time.

Second Hand Shops with Noel - Sweet Leilani

Saturday, May 4, 2019

Second hand shopping with Noel this afternoon and found this set of 4 tiki mugs. I was shocked because in a lifetime of checking out places that specialize in used stuff I've never seen any tiki mugs. I didn't buy them as they were being sold as a set of 4 and I don't need four of the same mugs for my collection as I'm actually going for variety at this point. On top of that they're brown and I've got enough tiki stuff in brown. ALSO, Leilani mugs seem to be pretty standard. They're all over the internet and can be obtained quite cheap. I figured a picture would suffice.

Cigar & Tiki Cocktail Time

Tuesday, April 16, 2019

The weather's been gloomy and cool since our return from the Desert Southwest. Once in a while we get a nice day like today and I feel I need to take advantage of it even if it's a weekday.

Great afternoon for a cigar in the yard and a variation of the Hula Hula Cocktail.

This one is made with rum rather than gin.

I also had a chance to look through the book _____ which I picked up at Frankie's Tiki Lounge in Las Vegas. The book is by ______ and has the recipes for all of the drinks at Frankie's.

My cigar this afternoon is an Asylum 13. It was nice to see some sun for a change and sit in it.

Got back home yesterday evening from the Desert Southwest. Closing out spring break with a Hula Hula cocktail here at home. This one is made with gin.

Listened to some Ultra-Lounge while sipping.

Spring Break 2019 Tiki Tour: The Golden Tiki Part 4 - The Giant Clam

Friday, April 5, 2019

The Tilted Tiki had a giant clam shell perfect for posing. I look flamboyant. Don't buy it.

Dale looks demure. For sure don't buy it.

Spring Break 2019 Tiki Tour: The Golden Tiki Part 2

Friday, April 5, 2019

For my second drink I got the Navy Grog which the menu describes as "One of our strongest drinks, blending Brugal Rum, Appleton Estate, and J. Wray & Nephew overproof rum with lime juice, grapefruit and honey." I had a hard time deciding which drink to go with and Roxanne approved of this one since it's served flaming!

Here Dale poses with the tiki mug the Navy Grog came in. And yes, I purchased the mug. It looks orange in this picture but it's really bright red.

The painting at our hightop table.

For dessert I ordered the Dole Whip with pineapple juice but without alcohol. Very delicious. I've heard a lot of Dole Whip over the past few years but never tried it. I loved it. Dale helped me out with it a little.

I loved the design of the menu and asked Roxanne if I could purchase one. She wasn't sure so she checked with the manager. It turns out she couldn't sell me the current menu but they had copies of the previous one that she could give me for 5 dollars.
